Research Projects
-
Development (March 1988 - July 1992), as Master's thesis and as a research
project for CPqD - TELEBRÁS, of a computer program to determine
the reflection coefficient of infinite plane dichroic surfaces, with periodic
elements comprised of perfectly conducting rectangular patches. These surfaces
find many applications as microwave and optical filters
-
Research project at The University of Texas at Austin (supervisor: Prof.
Hao Ling) involving numerical simulation and signal processing of backscattered
data from cavities embedded in complex bodies (Ph.D. Dissertation). In
that work, the method of Moments was used to determine the Radar Cross
Section (RCS) of arbitrary shape metallic cavities. Also, signal processing
techniques were used to analyze the backscattering data from these structures.
Among the techniques used are the Short-Time Fourier Transform, super resolution
techniques (ESPRIT), Adaptive Gaussian Representation, SAR (Synthetic Aperture
Radar) imaging, and combinations of those..
