Biography


A. F. ToledoAntonio Fischer de Toledo, after a period in industry, joined the Department of Telecommunications and Control of the Polytechnic School of the University of São Paulo (i.e., EPUSP) as an assistent professor, in 2002. He obtained his BSc degree in Electronic Engineering from Escola de Engenharia Mauá

After his graduation in 1973 he was employed by TELESP (i.e., Telecomunicações de São Paulo; nowadays called Telefónica), where he was, initially, asked to elaborate the proceedings, i.e., specification, planning and implementation of tests on telecommunication cables that were newly installed by contractors. During the 1970s and 1980s, he became involved in several other aspects of outside plant construction, including research efforts dealing with more advanced materials.

Between 1986 and 1992 he was with the Department of Electrical Engineering and Electronics at the University of Liverpool , United Kingdom, where he received both his MSc(Eng) and PhD degrees. During that time, he was involved with software investigation of time diversity techniques, and radio propagation research for cellular communications systems. In August 1992 he returned to TELESP, and joined the Wireless Communications Directory, which later gave origin to a company called Vivo - a subsidiary of Telefónica Group.

He is the author of several technical papers in the area of indoor and oudoor radio propagation and diversity techniques.

Retired in July 2022, he has been teaching, and doing some research, as a senior lecturer at the Department of Telecommunications and Control - EPUSP.
